National Honor Society

NHS Coordinator: Deborah White (806) 689-2220 x2235

The purpose of the National Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of Patton Springs School. To be considered for membership in the National Honor Society, a student must have a cumulative, non-modified scholastic average of 92.5 (excluding PE), be a member of the sophomore, junior, or senior class, and be in attendance for a period equivalent of one year at Patton Springs High School. In order to receive further consideration for selection to the NHS chapter, the student must complete a Student Activity Information form. This form highlights the student’s extracurricular activities, leadership positions, community activities, work experience, recognition, and awards. This form is evaluated by a council of five secondary teachers on a scale from 1 to 4 on the basis of Service, Leadership, and Character. Faculty Council members receive input from all faculty members before making their decision. Council members vote, and a student must receive a majority vote in order to be selected for membership. Membership is not guaranteed to anyone.
